The #1 reason you may not hit your 2021 goals.

A new year means a new opportunity to reset, but as we begin the new year, there is something I want to deposit into your mind — this year won’t change unless you do.

Let me explain

As a peak performance coach, my job is to train high-level entrepreneurs, visionaries, and leaders how to achieve their highest potential, crush their biggest goals, and do it all without burning out. Most of my clients are extremely accomplished people, so when they get stuck trying to “break through” their current level of success, it can be frustrating for them. Then I explain:
“The right opportunity is pointless if you aren’t the right person.”
That’s when it clicks.

Getting what you want:

For most of us ambitious, go-getter type individuals, doing the work isn’t the problem. It never has been. We always figure out a way to get things done. The problem, however, is that sometimes we can be blinded by memories of our success. Or worse — we’re blinded by our talent and we don’t even know it.
It’s a classic case of “you don’t know what you don’t know”, and unless someone points it out to us, or we take the time to actually self examine our performance, we won’t realize that there’s something keeping us from performing at our absolute best. A famous saying goes: “To get what you never got, you’ve got to do what you’ve never done.” However, based on expertise and evidence, I would argue it’s less about doing and more about becoming. I’ll say it like this:
“To get what you’ve never had, you’ve got to become who you’ve never been.”
Reaching maximum potential and becoming a peak performers is not about finding the best tactics or discover the next best potion. It’s all about becoming great from the inside out. When you change, everything changes.

To hit your goals…or not?

It is the beginning of a new year, and the single reason you may not hit your 2021 goals is not because you didn’t have enough money, opportunities, or time…it’s because you didn’t work hard enough on you.

A mentor says it like this: “Your talent will get you in the room, but it’s your character that will keep you there.” To get what you want in 2021, you have to become the person whose character and behaviors deserve those goals that you put on that paper.

Think Questions :

  • Do you need to work on your low discipline that is keeping you from staying consistent?
  • Do you need to work on your low confidence that is keeping you from launching?
  • Do you need to work on your focus that is keeping you from completion?
  • Do you need to work on your unrefined public speaking skills that is keeping you from making better content?
  • Do you need to work on your patience that is keeping you from loving your significant other better?
  • Do you need to work on your confidence which is keeping you from operating in your self worth?
  • Do you need to work on your past trauma that is keeping you from trusting people who want to help you achieve your goals?

Whatever it is for you…you can fill in the blank.
Even the most talented people in the world have to keep getting better and working on themselves in order to achieve more.

A work in progress:

This year, I challenge you more than ever to work on YOU, because despite popular belief, it’s not marketing, it’s not a new book, it’s not your logo, it’s YOU and your habits that are going to move the needle most (or not).
When you work to upgrade your mindset, become more disciplined, wiser, and healthier, and most importantly work to resolve your inner issues, then everything else you want (money, relationships, success) becomes easier to obtain. These are what we call the “invisibles.” When you work on the invisibles, you’re better at everything else. Why? Because you’ve become the person who deserves (not wants) everything on your goal list.

Action Steps:

Take a moment to write next to each of your goals one thing about your current character or habits that could be a barrier to accomplishing this goal. Think hard. Then, make a plan to work on it.
You’ve got this! The best is yet to come, my dear. DON’T let up. Let’s make 2021 the best year ever!
